HOW IT WORKS
The BlueFit Swim Teacher Working Holiday program is the perfect opportunity for you to immerse yourself into a rewarding role as a Swim teacher, while experiencing the beautiful landscape, vibrant culture and relaxed lifestyle of Australia.
We’ll fly you to Australia, provide training and give you the opportunity to work in some of Australia’s best cities!
You don’t have to be a swim teacher right now but you must be willing to teach a minimum of 5 water shifts per week.
Step 1: Application
STEP 2: INTERVIEW
February – May 2025
Once you have applied, you will be invited to join an online interview with one of our friendly program leaders.
Please be mindful that your interviewee will be in Australia, so interview times may be outside of normal business hours.
Step 3: PRACTICAL TRAINING DAY (UK)
Last 2 weeks June 2025
Step 4: PROGRAM ACCEPTANCE + ENROLMENT
First week of July
If you are successful in joining the program, you will receive a formal Offer of Employment, along with an enrolment form. Time to get excited! It is at this point, you will need to apply for your Visa, have your passport ready to go and confirm your details.
In order to secure your spot in the program, you will also be required to pay the Program Deposit (325GBP) and have a nominated support person guarantee your time in the program.
Please note: The program Deposit due by 25th July 2025.
STEP 5: Flights booked
End of July – Beginning August
Once you have enrolled and all relevant paperwork and information is received, we will book your flight to Australia.
Flights are expected to fall within the first week of September 2025.
You will receive your confirmed travel dates and tickets/itineraries roughly 4 weeks prior to your arrival.
Step 6: PRE-ARRIVAL TRAINING + SUPPORT
Within 14 days of arrival ( End of August)
Before you come to Australia you will need to finalise some online training modules to ensure you are able to work when you arrive.
We will also schedule some online compulsory group catch ups to ensure you meet the other program participants, squeeze in some pre-arrival admin and most importantly get you excited and ready for your big adventure!
STEP 7: FLIGHTS
First week of September
Step 8: WELCOME TO THE LAND DOWN UNDER!
Your Program leaders will greet you at the airport, show you around and get you settled into your arrival accommodation (short-term stay).
We will help with setting you up with the ‘life-admin’ you need, finalise your practical training, move you into your new home and start you in your workplaces.
And then…It’s time to enjoy the best year of your life!

THE APPLICATION PROCESS
Applications open 3- 4 Months prior to program commencement.
Prior to applying, please consider the program commencement and completion dates that can be found in the program options below.
You can apply if you meet the eligibility requirements for an Australian Working Holiday Visa.
Please note, we also have a program age eligibility requirement, making this program available for 20 – 30 year olds. However please contact us if you wish to enquire and you fall outside of this.
WORK
You will work in some of BlueFit’s busiest and largest aquatic and leisure sites in New South Wales and Victoria.
WORK ROLES
Your Core Working Role will be a Swim Teacher.
You will be employed as a casual staff member and enjoy casual pay rates.
However, as part of the BlueFit working Holiday program, we guarantee a minimum 25 hours per week (50 hours per pay fortnight). You will be rostered 5 days per week (Monday – Sunday), as determined by the site.
Within your rostered hours, you are required to work a minimum of 5 in-water Swim school shifts.* This includes 1 compulsory weekend shift.
All other hours may be made up of secondary working roles such as lifeguard, customer service, cafe attendant etc. Please note this will be dependent on your site.
* In School swimming season (September – December), you may be required to work an additional 3 School swimming shifts.

PROGRAM FEE The ‘Program Fee’ is the amount you will be required to repay to BlueFit. BlueFit will significantly subsidise the Employee as part of the program, however the fee is designed to cover a contribution towards the following expenses:
It is important to remember that all additional accommodation costs are also covered within this fee, including all furniture, linen, appliances, utilities and internet. How does the Program fee work? The BlueFit Working Holiday is a 12 month program, however your Program Fee will be split into 2 parts. Program Fee 1: September – March Program Fee 2: April – September Each Program Fee is paid through repayment deductions from a minimum of 13 fortnightly wage payments. Please note, the amount of repayments may differ slightly due to program commencement and completion dates in each part of the program. | ONLY 225GBP*/ $450 AUD per fortnight Deducted from Fortnightly wages for the duration of the program. **Pay rates and average wages are calculated as per the current Fitness Industry award. Please note that these rates may differ slightly, as all awards are updated yearly by the Australian Fair Work Ombudsman.

Comfortable, clean and cosy shared houses.
BlueFit accommodation is located within walking distance or easy public transport access, to all working locations.
All houses provide twin bedroom living arrangements and are equipped with furniture, linen, kitchen items, appliances and all utilities paid for! And some may even have the use of a car!
And the best part is, BlueFit will organise it all for you, with hassle-free repayments as you work!


TRAIN
QUALIFICATIONS
We offer fully funded courses and training for everyone that joins the program. That’s up to $1000 worth of training for free!
As a participant of the BlueFit Working Holiday Program, you will engage in a blended training program designed to create the most meaningful training experience for you.
1.Practical Training Day – Program Selections
Step 1 – If you have been successful in your first online interview, you will be invited to join the Practical training day in the UK, locations to be advised.
Step 2 – If you are successful in the Swimming and Water Safety Teacher practical day, you will be selected to join the BlueFit Working Holiday Program. It is important you understand that attending this day does not guarantee you a position in the program.
To be successful in the practical day we are looking for:

- Strong and clear communication skills
Step 3 – Online theory work
Learning content and short assessments provided through the online portal.
Step 4 – Practical training Finalisation
If you are successful, you will continue your practical training components in Australia once you arrive.
